PepsiCo banned mentioning the war in Ukraine

"The global food and beverage giant, PepsiCo, has prohibited the mention of the war in Ukraine in its advertising. The company, known for brands such as Lay’s, Mirinda, Pepsi, Sandora, 7up, Чудо, Слов’яночка, Садочок, Сандорик, and others, has been listed among the sponsors of the war.

PepsiCo extends its ban on war-related references even within Ukraine itself. During the search for a new advertising and PR agency, PepsiCo set a condition to avoid any references to war, military actions, aggression, army, personnel (from the brand's perspective), the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and refraining from expressing support for Ukraine and its Armed Forces in future advertisements and communications.

Negative references creating a "sense of danger" are also prohibited in PepsiCo's advertising. According to analysts at B4Ukraine, this behavior may be influenced by PepsiCo's ongoing operations in Russia and its increasing profits in the aggressor country.

PepsiCo has been operating in Russia since 1974, owning 19 plants, employing around 20,000 workers, and 40,000 agricultural workers. In terms of net profit, PepsiCo is the fourth-largest company in the beverages and food products industry in Russia.

PepsiCo's net profit in Russia surged by 333% to $525 million last year. The company paid approximately $115 million in taxes to the Kremlin. Currently, the iconic Pepsi Cola is sold under the brand Evervess-Cola, although the regular Pepsi Cola is still available in Russian supermarkets through parallel imports, as noted by activists.

The National Anti-Corruption Agency has included PepsiCo in the list of international sponsors of the war. Apart from its operations in Russia, PepsiCo's products have been found in the ration packs of Russian soldiers."
